The time has come for the Monroe County Green Party to select candidates for the 2002 election. We need to put government back in the hands of the people and build a just, sustainable future.
Someone has to do it. That someone is YOU.
This is your chance to join the ranks of state candidates Jeff Melton (9th District US Congressional seat) and Tom Brown (Secretary of State) in 2002. They continue the momentum of the over 270 Greens across the country who ran for office in 2001 -- 49 of them successfully!

If you're ready to serve, here's what to do:
First, contact MCGP Elections Committee Coordinator Craig Harvey, (harveyrc@bloomington.in.us or 336-3255).
Second, start attending meetings, including Elections Committee meetings, MCGP general meetings, and meetings of the body you hope to join (county council, county commissioners, etc.).
Third, familiarize yourself with state election law. The Indiana Election Division has posted a Candidate Guide (www.ai.org/sos/pdfs/2000can.PDF) and a Campaign Finance Guide (www.ai.org/sos/pdfs/Cfaman.pdf) on its web site. These manuals will be indispensable to your campaign committee.
Finally, plan to attend the MCGP Candidate Nomination Convention. This meeting will be held at 7:00 PM, Monday, December 17, at 342 S. Madison. Each candidate will have the opportunity to present his or her campaign themes before MCGP members choose their slate of candidates.
