Minutes for Monroe County Green Party general meeting

Meeting Called to Order at 7:12PM

Introductions were made
Induction of new member & quorum check;The quorum was discussed in 
case of pending vote for Mike Englert,Candidate for Sheriff.Mike was 
not present at this time.

Approval of agenda: Approved

Announcements & reports:
      Treasurer (Auden Thomas):Auden reported she is reviewing and 
organizing all the treasury paperwork      
Secretary (George Murphy):George reported he is in process of 
learning the database .
Technology (Larry Meehan):Larry reported on positive improvements to 
the MCGP web site
      Media (David Boyer):not present
      Newsletter (Isabel Piedmont?):no report
Campus Greens (Chris Sapp):no report 
      Nonviolence (Jeff Melton?):Jeff said he is engaged in dialoge 
to emphasize constructive rather than destructive dialogue regarding 
the Israeli/Palestinian Conflict. 
      Grassroots democracy (Dan Selvaggi): Not present
      Shadow government (Heather Drake): No report
      Living wage coalition (Steve Gardner): Jeff Melton reported 
that LWC will wait until they have clear objectives before proceeding.
      4th of July parade (David Boyer and Auden Thomas): Auden 
reported that ten dollars will register our group for the parade and 
she said she will take care of registration.

Old business
      Julie's campaign committee: Julie extended a welcome to all 
to join. The Elect Julie Roberts Committee meets Wednesdays at 7:00 
PM at the Encore Café. 
      Jeff's campaign committee: Jeff stressed the need for 
signature gatherers. The Elect Jeff Melton committee meets Sunday at 
5:30 PM at the Encore Café. 
      Green Pary liaison: No report
      Canvassing coordinator: No report
Grassroots Democracy Working Group: Not present
4th of July parade: T-shirt design was discussed with the following 
ideas presented: Julie: a single logo for T-shirts which could be 
used for both her and Jeff's campaigns. She also suggested handing 
out candy and a flyer. The group decided to form a telephone 
committee to get commitments to march in the parade and T-shirt 
sizes. Volunteers for this committee were: George, Peter, Heather, 
Jeff, Chris, and Auden. It was decided to begin calling soon and make 
reminder calls closer to the 4th. 
Farmers' market: Auden and Julie committed to tabling June 8. 
Heather, Peter and Julian committed June 15.

Campaigns:
Jeff Melton is planning a gourmet Indian Dinner Benefit. Date to be 
announced. He also reiterated the urgency for signature gathering. 
Ideas were discussed as to signature gathering a various location. 
Jeff has also contacted the GPUS for additional signature gatherers. 
Jeff needs 3500 – 4000 signatures by June 30.
      

Julie Roberts reported that she had spoken at Edgewood High School 
and despite it being the last day of school, the experience was 
rewarding. She is working on final details of her campaign brochure. 
She still may need an additional 200 signatures.

Vote on nomination of Mike Englert for Sheriff: There was consensus 
to table the vote until next meeting. 
Mike Englert arrived at 8:10 to announce he is officially withdrawing 
his candidacy.

New business
Nature of membership on btowningreens-discuss: Jeff Melton began by 
highlighting ongoing problems with an unidentified Discuss List User 
who is believed to have abused his privilege by advocating violence 
and by signing other people's names to his postings. Larry then 
continued to list several other abuses of the discuss list by the 
same user. Larry said he has responded by no longer allowing free 
access to the list. Anyone who wants to be on the discuss list must 
now be approved. There was no objection to this change.

Isabel Committed to facilitating the June 18 meeting. 

Review of commitments: Commitments were reviewed. Peter suggested a 
4th of July Parade sign up sheet at the Farmer's Market.
