Minutes for Monroe County Green Party general meeting Tuesday, June 18, 2002, 7:00 PM Bloomington Environmental Center 116 ½ S. College Ave. Facilitator: Isabel Piedmont Scribe George Murphy Meeting called to order at 7:10 Attendance,10 people; George Murphy,Curtis Sweden,Auden Thomas,Julian Battersby,Jeff Melton,Peter Drake,Heather Drake,Rebecca Riall,Isabel Piedmont,Julie Roberts. Introductions were made Approval of minutes yes Approval of agenda yes Announcements & reports Heather announced the Citizens Academy of Bloomington is now accepting applicants .She said this as a great way to learn how our local government works. The Indiana Green Party meets Saturday ,June 22 in Indianapolis. Treasurer's Report (Auden Thomas):The MCGP bank balance is currently $510. The secretary shall be put on the MCGP account as well as the treasurer. There was consensus that we need to increase the full member base. Secretary Report(George Murphy): As of last count we have 48 full members and 430 supporting members. The secretary will be out of town from 6/25 thru 7/1. Technology (Larry Meehan):not present Media (David Boyer): not present Newsletter (Isabel Piedmont): No report Campus Greens (Chris Sapp): not present Nonviolence (Jeff Melton):no report Grassroots democracy (Dan Selvaggi): not present Shadow government (Heather Drake):Heather reported that she will be leaving the utility board and would like to see a Green Party member replace her. This is an appointed position. Living wage coalition (Steve Gardner): not present Old business: Open party officers and committees Green Party liaison not present Canvassing coordinator not present Grassroots Democracy Working Group 4th of July Parade; The Parade will begin at 6th street and Morton at 3PM.Children under six years old are not allowed.Pets are not allowed.We will need two representatives to be in position at 12:Noon.The other Marchers should show up at 2:30.The Tee shirts shall be ordered by Julie Roberts on Friday ,6/21.We decided to have Tee shirts at the next MCGP meeting for pick-up by all parade marchers. Also to bring any extra tee shirts to the parade. We will ask people to offset the cost of the Tee shirts by a donation of $10., or whatever amount they can.However we shall give the shirts to all parade marchers regardless of donations. Julie will research `doogerhickers'to hand out to the crowd at the parade.The purpose of the doogerhickers would be to inform people about the MCGP web site and the Green Party in general.After the Parade there will be an Ice Cream Social,hosted by the Drakes at 342 Madison St. A donation of $5.00 is requested . Farmers Market; Auden and Julian will table at the 6/22 Market and Julian and Jeff will table at the 6/29 market. Campaigns: Jeff Melton ;Jeff said he needs to get at least 300 signatures a day to qualify for the ballot and requested help from everybody. Julie Roberts; Julie is focusing her signature gathering on door to door canvassing in her district ,district 2.She also requested volunteers for canvassing.
